The Daevi are descendants of the higher classes of the ancient Empire of the Eight Demons. Their ancestors were primarily members of the forces sent to quell the human uprising. These Daevi were forced by necessity to work with the surviving humans after the destruction of the Ancestor World. Over time this has resulted in the two races having mixed views of each other, though they tend towards positive relations. In appearance, they are somewhat similar to humans, although they tend towards more alien skin tones and have rather distinctive horns.

Sekk-Sotyll scrolls describes the Daevi as creatures of power and inheritors of incredible mythical talent. But they were also fearful of their immortal parents and innocent of any crimes against the servitor races. These traits ultimately drove them to seek alliance with the High Houses. This alliance led to a full uprising against Mummujoxuru, the Mumia and the Vailyrians, resulting in the shattering of the Altar of the Undying and the destruction of the Ancestor World.

All Daevi are born under a mythical sign that determines certain aspects of their lives, but mainly their physical appearance. It is believed that the signs were representations of stellar constellations. The birthsign was how the Eight kept track of their half-human offspring and it allowed them to keep the Daevi enslaved.

Originally, the sign of a Daevi identified to which of the Eight they belonged and were controlled by. After the shattering of the Ancestor World, so too were signs of the Daevi also fragmented. Since the shattering, over time the number of symbols has gradually decreased, starting with the symbols which had only minor variations from the original eight. Now there is only one symbol currently available for the Daevi.

Tempest

Tempest Birthsign
Tempest Birthsign

The Tempest sign gives the bearer no additional powers, and is known to cause the appearence of the Daevi to have similar (although smaller) features as those Daevi in the past who had the now lost Thorn symbol.

Thorn

The Thorn symbol is known of, however we have very few details regarding this symbol. Below is a quote from Freeze regarding this symbol:

Yup, Thorn is just mentioned becasue Daevi born under Thorn have large horns and claws... smaller versions of those are still common under Daevi born under Tempest.

Riddle

The Riddle birthsign gave the Daevi patches of blazing runes and glyphs burning brightly on their bodies: sometimes on their left or right arm, sometimes on their faces or torsos.

Nebula

Nebula gave the hair of the Daevi the appearance of being made of elemental smoke. Little else is yet known about this birthsign.
