Category talk:Guidebook

How about seperating this into 3 sections, as later I believe it will pay off: Quests, Anscestral Quests, and Game Mechanics. Kainui 08:59, 28 July 2006 (CEST)
- You mean by adding subcategories to Guidebook category or adding totally new categories and links to the left side menu? IMO, subcategories could work better, so we don't clutter the left side menu too much. dispeptic 11:59, 28 July 2006 (CEST)
- Remember the menu doesn't yet have the French section... subcategories would definately be better. Snodge 13:23, 28 July 2006 (BST)
- I was actually thinking that classes would go under Game Mechanics, but I don't want to start doing stuff without someone's OK. Kainui 03:00, 31 July 2006 (CEST)
- OK, I ended up doing it anyway since after a while it just made sense to do. Kainui 03:10, 31 July 2006 (CEST)
Quests seperate from Mechanics
Honestly I think everything could fall into Guidebook if we don't define the categories better, so I'm thinking that we make Guidebook for quests, missions, quest items, quest effects, walkthroughs, and things that you could guide people through, etc... Then make Game Mechanics its own seperate category similar to how Atlas, Beastiary, and Who's Who are seperate. I really want to see if we can't define what each category has so it's not such a mystery. I do realize it's kind of tough since the game hasn't been released but I think some general rules should be in each category so that it helps the people sorting and the people simply trying to find the information they want to get to. - Aye, sounds reasonable, eventhough I'd like to keep the left-side menu as small as possible (There are items that could be taken away or moved under some other page, like the "Current events" and "Random page". Those are hardly used, right?). The introductions to the main categories can be found under the "Community Portal" (The name is a bit vague, I didn't know what was behind it under I clicked it :). I'd suggest renaming it to something else, like "Introduction"). It has been talked about using that information on the "Main Page" so it's more easily noticable by newcomers. (The help text for Guidebook is maybe a bit too vague, it doesn't really say that you can find info about game mechanics there too) But yes, adding "Game Mechanics" as a new item amongst the other main categories could make it even more easier to locate the info. Or would it also work if we just improve the introductions to categories, so we could keep "Game Mechanics" under the "Guidebook"? dispeptic 09:13, 31 July 2006 (CEST)
- Well actually since we kind of decided Dictionary was not a good place to put stuff, I was thinking about swapping that out for Game Mechanics. Not only could you keep classes, and other junk in there, but in Game Mechanics you can have articles about how Mobs roam the world, or pretty much the Physics of Spellborn or How the World Works. Keeping Game Mechanics under Guidebook seems kind of flimsy to me because Bestiary, Atlas, and Who's Who could easily fit under Guidebook easily aswell because you have to kill X monster or talk to Y person in Z area.
